The holiday letting business right across Europe is a very competitive area these days. Gone are the times when simply putting a fresh roof onto an old building and attacking it with emulsion paint might do the trick. All of the holiday we see are of a high standard these days and are a credit to the hard work and financial investment of their proud owners. Portraying the quality of the workmanship and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside is what this shoot was all about for the client to use on their new holiday cottage website design.
All too often, a well produced holiday cottage website design can fall at the final hurdle, the photographic one. Grabbing a few quick shots just doesn’t do justice to the hard work and investment that’s gone into your project. So it was good to hear from the Bainbridge family that their latest cottages were soon ready to let. We had photographed some previous projects a few years ago now and these latest cottages raise the standards ever higher. Finished and decorated to the highest standard, with quality kitchens and lovely high quality French doors opening out onto the countryside, showing the outline of the Cleveland Hills, they’re in a lovely location. We were, as is often the case, short on props, especially after someone raided the fruit bowl, so we had to be careful that the same bottle of French red didn’t appear in too many of the shots!
With energy prices ever rising, underfloor heating using a ground source heat pump was part of the design. Coupled with high quality glazing and insulation, the heating investment should very soon pay for itself, giving environmentally friendly and cheap heat all year around.
We created a who series of photographs of each cottage, including the spectacular barn that can sleep up to nine people. The Bainbridge’s were fortunate to have a talented professional web designer in the family, so we worked together to carefully create the images that would be needed for both the website and the printed marketing material.
